Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she received the Emmy Award. As the sole daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney had a family of four brothers. As a young girl, Delaney wanted to be a court-reporter. In highschool her modeling career began when she was able to model commercials, she moved to New York. Her first role as an actor came when she was a young, innocent girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney is a well-known actor who has appeared involved in numerous television dramas, and TV films. As with her professional career, her personal life hasn't been easy or prosperous. The talented actor has struggled with alcoholism and she has experienced two divorces. In 2005 she lost the custody of her sole son.
